LARKS BRINGING IN TWINS LEGEND MORRIS
I might be wrong, but I think Bismarck's new Northwoods League team, the Bismarck Larks are about to announce Minnesota Twins 1991 World Series MVP Jack Morris as the teams mascot for their upcoming inaugural season.
The "official" reasoning for Morris coming to town on Wednesday is to be the keynote speaker for the conclusion of a Larks preseason promotion called "Brand That Bird" where the winning name of the teams mascot (either Larry, Louie, Spark or Clark) will be announced. The event will be free for the public, includes a bounce house for children, and everyone that voted on a finalist for the mascot naming contest or purchased a 7-Game Pack will be the first to meet and receive an autograph from the team’s new mascot. In addition, the person who first submitted the winning name will win two 7-Game Packs for the Larks Inaugural Season.
The event will begin at 5:30 pm with Jack Morris speaking at 6:00 pm, and the Larks’ new mascot being revealed afterwards.
After hours and hours of optimistically envisioning if there's some kind of hidden reasoning as to why the Larks are bringing in Morris for the event I came to the conclusion that they just work too well together....it's like steak and potatoes, ketchup and mustard, peanuts and cracker jacks -- Jack Morris and a bird suit!!??!! In all actuality Morris in a Lark outfit probably will not happen but when/if it does, well, I will have spoiled one BAM BAM of a surprise. Sorry, not sorry.
Morris, who pitched a complete game shutout in the deciding Game 7 of the 1991 World Series for the Twins will be on the air with me during the 3:00 hour on Wednesday (3/29) to discuss some Twins Baseball, Northwoods League Baseball, Wednesday nights event and even the potential of a bird suit in his future.
