Marilyn Manson: Cyberbullying Isn't as Bad as the "Old Fashioned Way"

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson says cyberbullying is nothing compared to the physical beatings he was subject to in high school.

Manson elaborated on how he struggled to fit in as a teen during a recent interview on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron

"I left Christian school and I went to public school," the singer said. "Same bus stop [as Christian school]—ass-whoopin'. So cyberbullying can...suck a d*** because I got my ass kicked the old-fashioned way: at the bus stop."

"If you don't want to get cyberbullied, close your computer off," he added.

Manson made the comments after explaining how he was expelled from Christian school for hiding a sex toy in a teacher's desk.

"So then I went to public school, got my ass beat a lot. I was in the band...this is where it goes south on me. [I was] playing the triangle."

Manson says he was learning percussion at the time, and is naturally more of a drummer than a guitarist or a vocalist. But his skill on the triangle went mostly unappreciated.

"I knew how to play snare drum, but I didn't want to be in marching band. So I got stuck with playing the triangle. Now, if you want to pick an instrument to get your ass beat with, it's the triangle."

Elsewhere in the podcast, the singer discusses his belief in the paranormal, his friendship with Alice Cooper and his first taste of performing.
