Megadeth Performs "The Conjuring" for the First Time in 17 Years

Megadeth performed its song "The Conjuring" Tuesday night for the first time since 2001.

From Megadeth's classic Peace Sells...but Who's Buying? album, "The Conjuring" wasn't pulled from the set for lack of fanfare. Mustaine wrote in his autobiography, Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir, that he practiced black magic as a teenager and included parts of an incantation in the lyrics for "The Conjuring."

Mustaine began to reconsider performing the song in 2016, when he said a conversation with Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler got him thinking that Megadeth could play "The Conjuring" again "as long as it doesn't hurt anybody."

The frontman says eerie coincidences during his teenage years led him to believe in hexes and black magic. Lyrics to "The Conjuring" apparently contain parts of an incantation.

It's hard to tell if Mustaine reworked the lyrics in his latest performances of the song. Check out the fan-filmed video above and let us know if you hear any differences.

Megadeth just reissued its debut album, Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!

Mustaine said the reissue was about updating the sound of the record to maintain its timelessness.

"For us to get an opportunity to go back in today and to do the record again with the technology today, for new fans that listen to bands like Slipknot and Five Finger Death Punch that's what they believe thrash and speed metal and hardcore and all that stuff sound like."

It's not clear if the guitarist is intent on reissuing Peaces Sells as well, or what he will do about "The Conjuring" if he revisits that album.
