Tommy Lee Suggests Kiss Stole Farewell Tour Stage From Mötley Crüe

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee appears to think another major artist lifted some of its live production from his band.

After video of KISS's first End of the Road tour concert began circulating online, Lee shared his thoughts with an accompanying face-palm emoji.

"Dayum, Kiss, this sure looks identical to Mötley Crüe's final tour," said the drummer in a Thursday Tweet containing a link to the Kiss video.

The fan-shot footage shows Kiss bassist Gene Simmons and guitarist Tommy Thayer being carried over the Vancouver audience by two gigantic cranes while the band performed its closer, "Rock And Roll All Nite."

The tone of Lee's statement about Kiss is less pointed than the last time he suggested an artist's production was taken from Crüe.

Last November, Lee threatened legal action against rapper Travis Scott after finding out that Scott's live show included a roller coaster gimmick.

Lee said Scott's coaster seemed like virtually the same piece of equipment Mötley Crüe used on its tours between 2011 and 2015.

Scott's lawyer responded to Lee with a scalding rebuke via TMZ: "Tommy didn't invent the concept of a roller coaster on stage and there's no legal basis for his accusatory outburst. The actual creator and owner of the system has granted Travis all rights to use that equipment to complement his original stage design."

Mötley Crüe toured with Kiss in 2012, performing more than 160 shows together in 72 cities.

In an October interview with Q104.3 New York's Jim Kerr, Kiss promised its final tour would include the most dazzling live spectacle of the band's career.

Simmons says it's the culmination of what Kiss became known for in the '70s and how Kiss raised the bar for large-scale touring artists ever since.

"You realized that whenever you see any rap star, rock star, country star — when you see their show, you're seeing Kiss DNA in their show," Simmons said.

"Our legacy is that we've raised your expectations."
