The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has canceled its 2020 live induction ceremony as concerns about COVID-19 continue to rise. Instead, the institution plans to air an exclusive special about this year's inductees. It announced the news on Twitter Wednesday (July 8).

"Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the live 2020 HOF Induction Ceremony concert on 11/7 is cancelled. In place of the live event, we'll broadcast an exclusive special about the #RockHall2020 Inductees on @HBO & HBO Max November 7, 2020 at 8pm," the tweet reads.

The event was originally scheduled to take place on May 2 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was postponed to November 7 in the wake of the pandemic. This year's inductees include Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, the Notorious B.I.G. and T. Rex. Moving forward, the Rock HOF plans to host its induction ceremony in the fall rather than the spring, beginning in 2021.

Despite canceling this year's soiree, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's museum has reopened, and live music in the plaza is set to resume this month. Get more info about visiting via the Rock HOF's official website and see the cancelation announcement below.
