Actor Devin Harjes, best known for roles in Boardwalk Empire and Gotham, has died at the age of 41, the Hollywood Reporter reports.
Harjes reportedly passed away at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City from an illness after being diagnosed with cancer in February. An obituary shared on the actor's official website confirmed his death date and location.
"Devin is survived by his loving parents, Randy and Rosanne Harjes; his sister Trish Harjes and her husband Justin Kelley; nephews Tristin and Sawyer Kelley; nieces Rory and Charly Kelley; his former wife Shiva Shobitha; his beloved cat, Maude; and countless friends whose lives were brighter…or at least more entertaining…because of him," the obituary states. "In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TKC Blessings in Devin’s name. All proceeds will support scholarships for children pursuing the arts—Devin’s true passion in life."
Harjes, a native of Lubbock, Texas, began his acting career on the off-Broadway stage and in independent films before landing the role of Jack Dempsey in Boardwalk Empire in 2011, appearing in two episodes. The actor went on to play Clyde, a bank guard, on an episode of the television series Gotham in 2014 and Oscar, a Rikers Island nurse, in an episode of Daredevil in 2015 before later roles on the shows Elementary, FBI and Manifest, as well as the film Rebel in the Rye.
