Beer-Pouring Auburn Fan Goes Viral After Loss to Virginia
- APRIL 06:
Auburn fans suffered the lowest of lows on Saturday night – directly contrasting the highest of highs they went through just a few moments earlier.
No. 1 seed Virginia took down No. 5 Auburn in the night’s first Final Four game. The Tigers held a 62-60 lead with just a few ticks left on the clock an Auburn player fouled Virginia’s Kyle Guy on a three-point attempt.
Guy went on to hit all three of his free throws with just 0.6 seconds left on the clock to send Virginia to the national title game after the 63-62 win.
However, as Guy’s three-point attempt sailed wide, Auburn fans celebrated as if their team won the game. Tigers fans had no idea the officials whistled their team for a foul and thought they were headed to Monday night’s title game.
One fan even poured a beer on his head in celebration of the “win.”
An Auburn fan next to me poured beer on his head thinking they won.
When they eventually lost, he was arrested.
Said fan reportedly was later escorted out of the stadium by police.
The PA announcer for the game reportedly claimed Auburn as the victors, so it’s difficult to fault these fans for losing their collective minds thinking they were headed to the title game.
It’s heartbreaking to lose, but even more so after pouring a beer on yourself.
