A teenage boy has gotten his wish for a pair of shoes that actually fit. Eric Kilburn Jr. from Ortonville, Michigan is 6’10” and has been hobbling around in size 22 shoes that are actually too small for him. To put this in perspective, the average shoe size for a man in the U.S. is 10.5. But now, Kilburn has hit the jackpot with the Under Armour company stepping in to make custom shoes for him that will fit him properly and keep his dogs from barkin’.
After a 3D rendering was taken and a mold of Kilburn’s feet was created, Under Armour asked for six to eight weeks to execute the request. And when the time comes, Eric will receive brand-new sneakers, basketball shoes, and football cleats. What’s more, an Italian company called Mauri has offered to make him custom dress shoes for school dances and formal events.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page for Kilburn has so far raised over $23,000, and his mom, Rebecca, has created a Facebook group called “Big Shoe Network” to help people track down hard-to-find large shoes.
