The granddaughter of a famous British artist is suing Nirvana, claiming the band ripped off his artwork.
The heir of late artist C.W. Scott-Giles says the band borrowed his design depicting the Nine Circles of Hell from Dante's Inferno, using it on t-shirts, records, and even coffee mugs sold at stores like Walmart, H&M and Hot Topic. Nirvana has been using the artwork since 1989.
Nirvana found themselves on the opposite side of a copyright battle in 2018, when they sued designer Marc Jacobs for ripping off their iconic 'smiley face' design.
