#TRENDING 11/06/24: 2024 Election: Donald Trump Was Elected President Again

2024 Election Results: Donald Trump Was Elected President . . . Again

Donald Trump went to bed a very happy man. Once it was clear he was ahead on both the electoral college AND popular vote, he gave a victory speech thanking the American people for electing him the 47th President.

Kamala Harris hadn't conceded yet. She was waiting until more votes are counted and by 5:45 a.m. Eastern it was over.

"The New York Timeshad Donald Trump at 267 electoral votes with 69.4 million of the popular vote, while Kamala Harris only had 224 electoral votes and 65.9 million of the popular vote.

It takes 270 electoral votes to win, and the remaining 37 electoral votes were most likely going to Trump too.

Absentee ballots are being counted everywhere, and the states that were still being contested when Trump went to bed last night were ArizonaGeorgiaMichiganNorth CarolinaNevadaPennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Here's the status of the other election results as of 3:00 a.m. Eastern . . .

The Senate: The Republicans took control of the Senate last night. There were still 7 Senate seats undecided, with 51 for the Republicans, and 41 for the Democrats, with Bernie Sanders easily re-elected as an Independent in Vermont.

ArizonaMaineMichiganMontanaNevadaPennsylvania, and Wisconsin have yet to be decided.

The House: There are still 69 seats undecided in the House of Representatives, but it looks like the Republicans may retain control there too. The preliminary results sit at 193 for Republicans and 173 for Democrats.

Speaking of the House, Delaware state Senator Sarah McBride won the state's only House seat, making her the first openly transgender person elected to Congress.

State Governors: The gubernatorial balance of power is at 25 states under Republican leadership and 23 states being led by a Democrat. The races for two states were still too close to call, with Republican candidate Kelly Ayotte leading over Joyce Craig in New Hampshire; and Democratic candidate Josh Stein leading over Mark Robinson in North Carolina.

(Obviously, the final tallies haven't settled in yet. For the LATEST information, here are the current election results from CNN . . . Fox News . . . MSNBC . . . ABC News . . . and AP News.)
