#TRENDING 9/22/25: Are We Doing the Seasons All Wrong?

Are We Doing the Seasons All Wrong?

Today is the first day of fall! But has it actually been fall for weeks?

A story is going viral online where a guy is claiming that fall started weeks ago. He said, "The seasons are all wrong."

He's proposing we re-date all four seasons. Here's the new breakdown:

1. Spring should start as soon as Daylight Saving kicks in. Next year it's March 8th. That extra sunlight means you've started spring, regardless of how cold it still is. And spring ends the first day it's hot.

2. Summer starts around June 1st and stops on August 31st. Mostly because the never-ending plague of summer is irksome . . . so we should shorten it a bit.

3. Once September hits, it's fall. Even if it's still 95 degrees. If leaves are falling . . . the NFL is on TV . . . and your kids are back in school, it's fall. This whole waiting till September 22nd thing for summer to end is wrong.

4. Winter begins on Black Friday. It's already bleak outside . . . Bing Crosby is playing on the radio . . . and you're setting up your Christmas tree. Fall doesn't end on December 22nd. It ends on Thanksgiving.

Of course, if you live somewhere like Santa Barbara, this is not for you . . . as you have no idea what a season looks like.  (70 degrees year-round must be nice!)

And if you live in the northeast, all these dates would change. It would be a seven-month winter . . . one week for fall, one week for spring . . . and the rest, summer.

The seasons are based on the equinox and solstice, but what do you think? Are the dates all wrong?
