#TRENDING 1/20/26: It's National Disc Jockey Day! Why It's on January 20th?

It's National Disc Jockey Day! Do You Know Why It's on January 20th?

There are lots of dumb, made-up holidays now, like Squirrel Appreciation Day tomorrow. But some holidays DO deserve to exist . . . Today is NATIONAL DISC JOCKEY DAY.

It's January 20th because one of the original disc jockeys, Alan Freed, a.k.a. "Moondog," passed away 61 years ago today, in 1965. He helped popularize the term "rock and roll" in the 1950s.

And he was one of the first people inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

It's easy to celebrate the holiday. Just take a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate US. And nothing is stopping you from whipping out your phone, and Venmo-ing ME some of the cash you've been squirreling away.

Do it now . . . don't save it for Squirrel Appreciation Day . . . because let's be honest, squirrels don't need any appreciation. They're just cute tree rats, who will destroy your bird feeder, repeatedly.  (???)
